The Clark Count Water Reclamation District has an important message -- toilets are not trashcans!

The district recently removed a wad of wipes from their wastewater collection system. The wad of wipes consists of flushable wipes and other garbage that should have been put in trashcans and not toilets.

The water district says the practice of  flushing trash is going to cause problems for the community. Wastewater agencies throughout the country are finding clogged sewer lines and damaged equipment.

Sanitary sewage overflows can affect public health and the environment.

The wad of wipes will be on display at the district’s annual open house, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Nov. 4 at the Flamingo Water Resource Center. The Flamingo Water Resource Center is located at Flamingo Road and Stephanie.
