LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — A local daycare owner and a mother are reacting to video seen out of St. Louis that shows a daycare worker grabbing a child by the arm and throwing her.

The 3-year-old was left with seven stitches, according to reports, with staff initially saying the child had fallen.

“Anyone working with kids must love children or find another profession,” said Little Hearts child care owner Louiza Nacer.

Her staff cares for more than two dozen children a day when their parents are at work, and she says that keeping children safe is a top priority.

Nacer also said that a background check on her staff is a given and it requires more than just that as it's truly knowing her team and having an open door policy.

"Come, visit and pop in. I let my parents pop in anytime. They have the code; they can come in anytime," Nacer said.

After watching the St. Louis daycare video, a local mother also informed 13 Action News that she prefers to watch her own kids.

"This is why we chose to home school because you don't know people. You have to trust people. I think for me it's a trust issue; it's just you don't even know what's going on," Karla Severson said.

The St. Louis woman has since been fired, according to reports, after the director of that daycare saw the video.
