A North Las Vegas teen took her own life last week due to bullying at her middle school, her mother said.

A vigil was held Wednesday for Nazareen "Nazzi" Drummond. The 15-year-old had special needs and was struggling with bullying at school, according to her mother Valerie Webster.

"The bullying has to stop. I mean, my daughter, she was beautiful, and she's gone. She's gone and there's nothing I can do about it," Webster said.

Webster hopes this tragedy will encourage other parents to listen to their children and to talk to them about both bullying and suicide.

The family is raising money to pay for funeral arrangements.

A local autism foundation is also helping the family. An event next weekend will raise awareness of bullying against special needs children in our community.

Donations collected at the event will help Nazzi's family and others.
