ORIGINAL STORY

Vandals are at it again. This time, they’re shooting out the windows of dozens of cars in one east valley neighborhood. Neighbors tell 13 Action News, criminals have hit as many as 60 cars.

When Luis Esparza went to sleep Friday night, his car was virtually spotless. “My car, perfectly fine,” Esparza said.

When he woke up to go to work Saturday morning, he noticed something wasn’t right. "I look at the back of my window and I’m like that’s peculiar,” Esparza said.

Someone shot a hole in his rear vent window. “It’s shattered,” he said. There’s no mistaking what he found in the back seat. “There’s a little hole. There’s a little metallic thing.”

At first, he chalked it up to mischievous kids. “Maybe they’re playing around with a bb-gun, hit my car, fine.”

Vandals hit his car the next day. “I found another hole in my door,” Esparza said.

Someone is going around shooting out windows of cars up and down Esparza's block on Los Feliz.

Sara Montes showed 13 Action News pictures of the damage. Vandals shot the rear window of her husband’s car in the wee hours last Friday. The next day, they shot her car window. “The first time, I screamed,” Montes said. “I’m really worried.”

Now, she fears for her family’s safety. “What if they start shooting the windows of the houses or something worse?” Montes asked.

Victims want whoever vandalized their cars to brought to justice and to pay for what they damage they did.
