A woman says her car was shot at on the east side.

It happened on Thursday near Mount Vista Street and Flamingo Road.

Police don't have suspects in custody, but they also aren't sure if the car was hit with a bullet.

Rachel MacDougall is just happy to be alive.

"I was driving right along this curve here, and all of a sudden my windshield got smashed, said MacDougall. I felt this smash on my windshield, and glass flew all over the inside of my car."

It happed around 4:45 p.m. while she was driving northbound on Mountain Vista Street.

"I was very impressed with my ability to stay in my lane and not crash into anything as I was going," she told Action News. “My first thought was that it was a rock."

However, her husband made an interesting find Friday morning.

"My husband came back this morning looking for evidence that somebody shot at my car," she said.

He found four shell casings that appear to come from a 25 millimeter handgun. He even marked exactly where he found them with chalk.

"It was probably some bored kid or somebody high or otherwise student who sat over there and just took pot shots at cars as they came up the street," said Mike MacDougall.

Based on the available, police say they still cannot confirm that Rachel was shot at.

In fact, they've listed the incident as vandalism.

"There's a whole apartment complex here,” Mike says. “Chances are somebody heard shots."

I spoke with members of the maintenance crew at the apartment complex. They say they didn't hear any gun shots yesterday.

According to a police crime map, officers did receive a report that someone near the intersection was carrying a gun on Wednesday at about 11:30 p.m.
