A 17-year-old male student and the Valley High School teacher accused of sexual misconduct with him exchanged more than 13,000 text messages, many sexual in nature, according to the arrest report.

Rumors between students have been swirling at Valley High School.

"There are a couple rumors over Facebook saying they had a relationship," said freshman Alex Santiago.

Jillian Lafave was arrested in early January and has been put on paid administrative leave. She had been an English and special education teacher. The student had a learning disability.

A student who knew LaFave said he would have never suspected her to engage in a relationship with a student.

"She's a really nice teacher she didn't look like a teacher that would do stuff like that," said the student who did not want to be identified.

Valley High School sent a letter home with students on Tuesday, indicating the school is "cooperating fully with the CCSD Police Department.

"It's disturbing to know, no one had told us anything," said Scott Miller, who's step-daughter attends Valley High School.

According to the arrest report from Clark County School District police, the 17-year-old said he would hang out with Lafave almost every day after school. Police said he was upset when he found out Lafave was under investigation and that he loved her.

According to the report, the student would call Lafave mom and she would call him her son but Lafave would tell him in text not to call her his mom when they were talking about sex.

Lafave told the teen to be more careful since she did not want to get into trouble and that they should not be in a relationship, according to police.

When police interviewed Lafave, they said she admitted to kissing the student several times before winter break. Lafave told police she had never had sex with the teen but that she had touched his penis. According to the arrest report, she pushed his hands away when he tried touching her genitals.

CCSD police said they will continue to search Lafave's phone.
