LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev) participated in a roundtable discussion on Wednesday to highlight the disproportionate impact of climate change on minority communities.

Cortez Masto talked about her new appointment to the Senate Democrats’ Special Committee on the Climate Crisis and discussed initiatives to help bring the voices of those communities to the forefront of climate change discussions.

“Every day I hear from Nevadans who are frustrated that their elected leaders aren’t taking climate change seriously, despite overwhelming scientific consensus that climate change is real and humans are responsible," Cortez Masto said.

She also said minority communities stand to lose the most, as they are in areas most affected by "the climate crisis" with the rare funding to get the needed resources.
