LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Deputies with the U.S. Marshals were involved in a shooting near Wynn and Viking roads on Monday.

They were tracking a fugitive from Washington State to Nevada when the shooting took place.

When the deputies went to make contact with the fugitive, they say he tried to flee in a truck and rammed their vehicles multiple times.

At that point deputies opened fire on the suspect vehicle.

Las Vegas police were asked to help investigate the shooting.

U.S. Marshals say 2 to 3 deputies may have fired their weapons. The number of rounds has not been revealed.

US Marshals deputies are trained medics and they gave aid immediately. The fugitive is currently at UMC Trauma.

“We try to set this up so that individuals will give themselves up peacefully, away from people but the nature of who we chase sometimes unfortunately results in an officer involved shooting,” says Gary Schofiel, U.S. Marshal.

At this time the suspect's name has not been released.
