Two fires burned homes on the same neighborhood in east Las Vegas Sunday night.

The fires happened within hours of each other in the 6000 block of Casa Loma Avenue, near Mount Hood Street and Carey Avenue, with the second occurring around 10 p.m.

Both homes appeared to be empty and some at the scene thinks it might be the work of squatters. The cause of the fire, however, remains under investigation.

"It's just people with no homes, nowhere to go or place to go hide or something," said Nicholas Sanders with the board up crew. "I really don't understand it. It's happened a lot in the valley."

Some neighbors said they've been threatened by people coming and going from the homes.

"People have been living in there, going in and out all day for the last couple of days," Karen Jackson said. "One kid who stayed there we knew."

No injuries were reported.
