LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — If you have committed to losing weight this year, you've probably thought about going on a diet.
Nutrition trends like the Keto diet, Gluten-free or The Mediterranean diet have become popular, but experts say those trends seem to go in and out style, quickly.
If you're not careful with what or how much you eat you could sabotage your efforts of losing weight.
Many times people are left in the yo-yo effect, an unhealthy cycle of weight gain and loss.
Jon Kinney is the owner of Greens and Proteins and a health expert here in the valley. He says these trends are not designed to be long-term weight solutions.
Kinney says he often sees many people fall into the pitfalls of society's most popular diets.
"You will see the symptoms of overeating real fast because you will not lose any weight and your pants will start getting tighter but the real pitfall is not eating enough," Kinney said.
Experts say it's important to be cautious of popular diets and trends as well as keeping track of what and how much you're putting into your body.
