UPDATE MAY 20: CCSD trustees unanimously approved the final budget for the next school year.

The budget does not include pay raises for employees.

However, the district sent out a statement that said it is committed to working with state leaders to try and get employees a raise.

And the budget can be reopened before December to add additional funds.

The tentative Clark County School District budget does not include pay raises for its employees during the upcoming school year.

CCSD Superintendent Dr. Jesus Jara outlined a few key points of the 2019-2020 school district budget at Thursday's Board of Trustees meeting.

"As it stands today, this proposed budget does not include funding for employee increases," Dr. Jara said. "Law requires that I present a balanced budget and salary increases would require either new funding or cuts to existing services that deserves serious public discussion."

The board must approve a final budget by the end of May.
