A 13 Action News viewer says her childhood home near Decatur Boulevard and U.S. 95 has been taken over by squatters.

Michelle Dietz says the home had been in her family for generations.  It was most recently owned by her grandmother, Roberta Wold, who passed away last year.  When Wold died, her home went to her mortgage company because she had done a reverse mortgage.

Dietz says as sad as it was to lose her grandmother and her childhood home, she hoped it would eventually be sold to a family who would care for it the way they did.

Instead, recently the home has been overrun by squatters. There's a trailer in the front yard as well as people sleeping in a car.

Recently, the city posted a notice to vacate. But it seems the squatters haven't taken notice.

We reached out to the city, who says the home is in violation, and they will follow up on enforcing the order.
