Smoke-free advocates in Nevada are looking closely at a California bill that would raise the smoking age to 21.

Right now, people can buy a pack of cigarettes in both states on their 18th birthday. But California recently passed a series of tobacco bills, which if signed would mean they'd have to be 21.

There is concern that underage smokers in California will just make the short trip over the border to Nevada to buy their cigarettes. There are places to do so just miles from the stateline.

Health officials say the good thing is, cigarettes are 93 cents more in Nevada than in California.

As far as anything happening in Nevada, that could be a couple of years.
