Sen. Harry Reid has introduced an amendment which would ban gun ownership by people convicted of misdemeanors under the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances, a 1994 law meant to prevent violence and harassment at abortion clinics.
The bill was in response to last week's shootings at the Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado Springs, according to Politico.com.
After the shooting in San Bernardino on Wednesday, Reid took to Twitter to say that the Senate Democrats plan to force a vote on the amendment.
We cannot allow ourselves to grow numb to gun violence or to feel powerless in the face of it. #SanBernandino

Gun violence has become a cancer on this nation. We must make common sense gun reforms that keep weapons out of dangerous hands.

We are 337 days into 2015. We have had 355 mass shootings. Congress is complicit in this with our inaction. https://t.co/ri8IpwdUD3
