REPORT: Crime reports spike at UNLV

The Clery Report, an annual tally of reported crimes on college campuses, indicated reported crimes increased on campus in several categories between 2017 and 2018.

Sex crime reports, both rape and "fondling," increased 475% from 2017 to 2018 on campus and in student housing.

At the two locations, three rapes were reported in 2017 and 14 were reported in 2018, and "fondling" was reported one time in 2017 and nine times in 2018.

The report showed a significant increase in car theft, domestic violence, stalking, and dating violence reports as well.

The Clery Report said there were two drug law violation arrests at associated with UNLV in 2017 compared to 17 in 2018, and one weapons law violation arrest in 2017 compared to six in 2018.
