For the third time, protesters gathered outside of a local restaurant hoping to get a controversial dish off the menu Sunday.

Animal rights activists lined the sidewalk outside Sparrow & Wolf restaurant on Spring Mountain Road in Chinatown, hoping to convince owners to remove foie gras from the menu.

Protestors say the dish is made inhumanely by force-feeding ducks and expanding the size of their liver before finally being killed.

This protest follows a recent one last weekend, where protestors were holding up signs and rallying to get the attention of drivers and folks heading in for dinner.

13 Action News questioned Darren Lara of Animal Action Las Vegas, who organized the protest, to ask why his group is repeatedly protesting the same restaurant but not any spots on the strip that also carry the same menu item.

This was Lara’s response to asking if he believes these protests are damaging a local business:

“At the end of the day, that is the goal. If they don’t want to comply, let’s shut them down…why not."

The restaurant’s owner says the constant protests have discredited his business, and his family has also been harassed by protestors.
