11 drivers arrested at DUI checkpoint

UPDATE: Las Vegas police say they arrested 11 individuals for driving under the influence on Wednesday night. 4,502 vehicles passed through the checkpoint located at Charleston Boulevard and Arlington. 35 individuals were tested.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Traffic Bureau along with Officers from the Area Commands will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint on the east side of the Las Vegas valley.

The checkpoint will be supported by the Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws Grant. This checkpoint will raise awareness of LVMPD’s Zero Tolerance toward alcohol/ impaired driving and LVMPD’s efforts to have a safe holiday season.

The checkpoint will be conducted on Dec. 16-17, between the hours of 7 p.m. and 3 a.m.
 
The location selected for this checkpoint will be in an area that has consistently shown to be a high traffic area for accidents and impaired drivers.
 
The checkpoint will focus on identifying drug and alcohol impaired drivers to include juveniles, young adults, and older adults, before they get involved in a collision, thereby increasing the safety for all Southern Nevada motorists.
 
These events symbolizes the commitment of LVMPD toward reducing the number of DUI incidents and decreasing the number of alcohol related traffic collisions as well as alcohol related traffic fatalities.
 
 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Officers will be out in full force Wednesday night on the east side of the valley for a DUI checkpoint.

Police will be an undisclosed location from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. The location is in a high traffic area for crashes and impaired drivers.
