Sarah Schaich has heard gunshots ring out from the mountains just outside her subdivision. But she never expected to hear of anything like this.
Police discovered a man suffering from gunshot wounds in the middle of the road at Grand Canyon Drive and Maule Avenue. They say he was nude and covered in blood.
“Scary,” Shaich said. “This should be a really safe area.”
Shaich said her husband goes running and she walks with their 2-year-old daughter in the area. Now, she’s worried about her family’s safety.
“It is pretty disturbing that this is happening near us,” said Shaich. “Just to hear that. I don’t who’s around this area or if there’s bad people coming in.”
Police are not saying how the shooting happened and why, making this grisly mystery all the more frightening for Abbi Hubler.
“Oh, it’s terrifying,” Hubler said. “Shock. I’m at a loss for words.”
Hubler said this happened way too close to home.
The victim was taken to University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Police have not released his name. The homicide unit is investigating due to the seriousness of the crime.
