A pipeline containing treated wastewater broke at the Water Reclamation District’s Flamingo Water Resource Center (FWRC) on Thursday.

Crews responded, stopped the leak and are now repairing the pipeline and cleaning up the site.

The majority of the spill remained on the property with an initial estimate of less than 50,000 gallons reaching the adjacent flood channel.

The level of treatment and the small amount of the spill pose no threat to the environment. Over 100,000,000 gallons of wastewater is treated at the FWRC each day and is safely returned to the environment.

The FWRC is located in the southeast portion of the Las Vegas valley, on Flamingo Road at Stephanie and encompasses over 700 acres.
