Pedestrian killed on Interstate 15 near Moapa

Preliminary investigation revealed that on Saturday, November 21,at approximately 8:35 p.m., a white 2008 Toyota Prius was traveling southbound on IR15 in the right travel lane, south of mile marker 90 in Clark County.
 
Charles McCormick, a 53-year-old male pedestrian entered IR15, a controlled access highway, and was standing in the right travel lane, south of the Toyota. The 43-year-old male driver of the Toyota steered left in an attempt to avoid striking the pedestrian.
 
The right front of Toyota struck Charles McCormick and the Toyota driver remained on scene.
 
As a result of the crash, Mr. McCormick succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene at 10:45 p.m. There were no injuries sustained to any of the 3 occupants in the Toyota.
 
This marks Nevada Highway Patrol-Southern Command's 54th fatal crash resulting in 59 fatalities for 2015.
 
This was the 4th pedestrian killed in NHP Southern Command’s jurisdiction for 2015.
