UPDATE: Elderly victim identified in fatal crash

UPDATE ON MARCH 4: The Clark County Coroner identified the female victim in Thursday's crash ash 84-year-old Ganimet Gallegos from Las Vegas.

ORIGINAL STORY

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) -- A pedestrian died after she was hit by a car Thursday evening.

Police reported the crash around 6:20 p.m. near Charleston and Nellis boulevards. A Toyota sedan struck the 84-year-old woman.

The pedestrian was transported to UMC Trauma where she later died.

Police had originally said it was a hit-and-run but later corrected saying all parties remained on scene. The driver did not show any signs of impairment.

Police also said it initially appeared the woman was not in the crosswalk, however, police are continuing to investigate.

The woman's identity will be released by the Clark County coroner.

This is the 22nd traffic-related fatality in Las Vegas police's jurisdiction in 2017.
