The officers involved in a fatal shooting have been cleared and their actions ruled justified.

29-year-old Salvador Figueroa was shot and killed by police outside a convenience store on January 11. North Las Vegas Police say two officers were conducting an investigation following a traffic stop near North Eastern Avenue and East Searles Avenue just before 8:30 p.m.

They pulled over a man and a woman in a Circle K parking lot. As they were talking to the couple, the man took off on foot.

One of the police officers stayed with 27-year-old Karina Carlota Zaragoza-Maldanado and the other police officer took off after the man.
The man returned to the scene and went back to his vehicle. As he reached the vehicle, the police officer used a taser on him.

Figueroa then pulled out a gun and the officer shot him three times. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Zaragoza-Maldanado was transported to the Las Vegas City Jail where she was booked on one felony charge of Possession of Methamphetamine and one misdemeanor charge of Possession of Narcotic Paraphernalia.
