If you receive a parking ticket in the city of Las Vegas, you may soon be able to pay for it by donating food or other goods.
The Las Vegas City Council is considering a program that would allow drivers to pay for certain parking tickets by donating food or clothing instead.
The program would only be offered twice a year and only certain types of non-serious parking tickets. It would not cover tickets received for parking in a fire lane or no parking zone, for example.
In addition, the donation must equal the amount of the ticket.
The program is being sponsored by Councilman Bob Beers. who says he doesn't believe it would affect the city's budget.
