A new bill in the legislature would allow dental hygienists to do more simple procedures.
The hygienists would receive extra training before they are allowed to do more serious procedures such as pulling teeth and fillings.
Right now, only fully-trained dentists are allowed to do those procedures.
While some are in support of the bill, a dentist we spoke with says that even simple procedures can turn into life-threatening situations quickly.
The bill is currently being considered by the state's senate.
