Nevada is signing on with 17 other states and DC in a federal lawsuit against changes to university Title IX regulations.

In May, the US Department of Education announced new protections for those accused of campus sexual harassment and violence.

Critics argue the change may discourage victims from coming forward.

State Attorney General Aaron ford says the new rules are unlawful.

Nevada regents adopted the mandates, but the state's universities chancellor calls them a step away from "open, inclusive, respectful and safe campuses."
