On Friday for the first time, the Nevada Highway Patrol joined forces with the California Highway Patrol to target the highly traveled Interstate 15 corridor between California and Las Vegas.

It is estimated that on a daily basis, an average of 45,000 vehicles enter Nevada on the I-15 corridor from California, which equates to an average in excess of 16 million vehicles entering every year.

This weekend marks the end of Spring Break for Nevada schools and the beginning of spring break for California schools which means both agencies are expecting heavy vehicle traffic during this time period.  Sunday proved the case with heavy traffic heading southbound from Nevada to California on I-15.

This stretch of I-15 was once considered one of the most deadly stretches of highway in the country.
