Neighbors off Maryland Parkway say they've been seeing lines of UNLV students parking cars in front of their homes.

They say they have the same problem every school year. The students who don't want to pay for parking on campus have been parking in their neighborhood instead.

One neighbor tells 13 Action News it's gotten so bad, he's even had to call out of work sometimes because his car has gotten blocked in.

Neighbors say they've tried everything to fix the problem, but their homeowners association told us their hands are tied because the street is considered public property.

Neighbors had hoped this year would be different, since UNLV added in a new parking garage on Maryland Parkway, bringing their total spaces to 14,000.

Problem is, students still think it's more convenient to park in neighborhoods and walk.

UNLV senior Jesy Simons says paying for parking was too expensive and unreliable, and that using parking meters weren't a good option either.

UNLV tells 13 Action News they believe their prices are appropriate. The annual parking fee for students is $137, which they say is lower than most universities.
