LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — A new piece of technology aimed at stopping wrong-way drivers was tested Thursday evening in northwest Las Vegas.

The wrong-way driver alert sign involved in the Nevada Department of Transportation's test is located at northbound US-95 and Durango Drive.

These sets of signs can sense wrong-way drivers and flashes lights when triggered, according to NDOT. If successful, the technology is planned to be added to more spots throughout the valley later this year.

In the first two months of 2020, Nevada Highway Patrol said troopers have responded to more than 100 wrong-way driver calls in the state.
