LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. -- Parents have concerns after two middle schoolers were caught having sexual relations in a bathroom at Varsity Lakes Middle School in Florida.

The incident happened on Wednesday. "I'm shocked," said one parent who recently moved to the area. "My wife checked all the schools, this is the best school around here."

An incident report states that a young boy and girl were caught performing sex acts in a school bathroom while they were suppose to be in class. They were seen on camera entering the bathroom and stayed for about 20 minutes. A staff member then went into the bathroom and found the girl after it happened, after which she admitted to it. The school resource officer then called their parents.

Parents at the school told Scripps partner station Fox 4 they got no notification of the incident.

The incident comes after two football coaches got fired at South Fort Myers High School because several of their football players were caught having sex with a 15-year-old girl in the school's bathroom after school hours. After the incident gained national attention, the Lee County District vowed to step up security to make sure it didn't happen again.

Lee County Schools sent the following statement:

“The active supervision plan at Varsity Lake Middle School worked.  The students were located, law enforcement was notified and the parents were called. The students have been disciplined according to the student code of conduct. No staff members have been disciplined as they followed all safety and security protocols.”

However, some parents said that's not enough. "Why were they in the bathroom for 20 minutes? They shouldn't have been there that long. Somebody should've been able to prevent that," said Lisa Hylton, who was pickng up her grandchild. "They should put somebody in the bathrooms the whole time that there's school. Somebody should be in each bathroom, girls and boys."
