According to a report from the Wall Street Journal, one of the suicide bombers involved in the assault on Paris Friday attempted to enter Stade de France during a soccer match.

After security spotted the vest, the man backed away from security, and detonated the bomb.

Nearly 80,000 fans were inside of the stadium during a match between the French and German national teams. Among the fans in attendance was French President Francois Hollande. Hollande’s security team escorted the president out of the stadium to safety after bombs were detonated outside of the stadium.

Three explosions took place near the soccer stadium., but were not as deadly as the other attacks on the city. The most deadly attack came at a concert hall, where more than 100 people were killed.

Fans and players were not told about the attacks that killed more than 120 people until after the game had concluded.
