Apple is planning to crackdown on apps that secretly track iPhone users.

The company says it will roll out new privacy control in the spring.

The feature known as "app tracking transparency" will be part of an iPhone software update.

The safeguard was originally supposed to come last September.

But it was delayed because of Facebook, which depends on tracking data to sell ads.

The new feature will require iPhone users to give their explicit consent to being tracked.
