As presidential candidates take the stage in Thursday’s Democratic debate, a separate group will use the occasion to speak their own views.

Organizers in Milwaukee expect more than a thousand protesters to walk off their jobs -- many of whom work in fast food -- at noon, and bring their "#Fight for $15” message to the debate, where they will gather between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders.

Protesters are fighting for a national minimum wage of $15 per hour at a time in which the minimum sits significantly lower, at $7.25.

Furthermore, the planned protest comes in a state where roughly 46% of workers are paid less than $15 an hour, organizers say. Sanders and Clinton have both advocated a higher minimum wage, with Sanders siding at $15 and Clinton at $12.

Fight for $15 says nearly 64 million Americans are paid less than $15 an hour.
