UPDATE: The victim has been identified as 47-year-old Sheldon Russell Cooper of Las Vegas.

ORIGINAL STORY:

A motorcyclist is dead after a crash on Tuesday.

It happened around 6:45 p.m. near Peak Drive and Jones Boulevard. Investigators say the rider died on scene after being struck by two vehicles.

Police are investigating to determine whether the driver of the first vehicle could potentially face charges.

It appears the driver pulled out in front of the motorcycle, said investigators.

The impact threw the rider into the opposite lane of traffic where he was hit again by a second car.

Alcohol or speed does not appear to be a factor.

"It's everybody's responsibility to that extra minute," said Sgt. Richard Strader, "to look left and right and make sure you're not pulling out in front of somebody."

The motorcycle rider was wearing a helmet.

The coroner has not identified the name of the deceased.
