Mom who drowned boating in Lake Tahoe leaves 3 children

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Authorities and family have identified a woman who drowned in Lake Tahoe as a sparkling mother of three children who was enjoying the weekend with her boyfriend and his children.

Cheri Monize said her foster daughter, Daisy Rogers, had recently moved back from Texas to Monterey County along California's coast. Rogers' children are 13, 5 and 3.

Authorities said she slipped while boating and was not wearing a life jacket.

Her companion, whose name was not disclosed by authorities, tried to rescue her but also fell in the water and was later rescued.

The children were found on the drifting boat after someone heard their cries.
