LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Fuzzybear, a three and a half-year-old miniature poodle, was found shot and killed Thursday night in west Las Vegas.

His owner, Sophia Konstantinovna, said she came home to find his lifeless body lying in the rain in her own backyard.

"I ran up to him, and he was stiff," Konstantinovna said. "He had this awful look on his face with his mouth open, and his eyes pooched out."

She also said the rain washed Fuzzybear's blood from the grass, but the horror of finding him continues to be a tough image to forget.

"The whole world stopped," Konstantinovna said. "I gasped, and I let out a moan as I've never moaned before, and the tears just poured."

Konstantinovna was left asking why someone had killed her mini poodle in cold blood in front of her other dog, Coco Puff, while she was away from home.

"Coco Puff was sniffing his body," Konstantinovna said of her other mini poodle. "She saw Fuzzybear get wrapped up and depart."

Police have started an investigation into the late-night killing but haven't named a suspect.

Konstantinovna said she wants answers so she can feel safe along with her neighbors.

"I loved my yard," she said. "I wanted to make it beautiful and enjoy it, and now, what was once a safe and beautiful place feels a bit frightening."

Konstantinovna has also begun raising money to offer a reward for information that leads to the suspected shooter's arrest.
