Police seek person who helped injured officer

Posted

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department would like to extend its thanks to an unknown Good Samaritan for helping an officer who was shot on Sept. 6.

The ambush-style shooting happened as the officers were stopped at a traffic light on Tropicana and Nellis, said police.

A 17 year-old suspect, whose identity has not been released, opened fire on a patrol vehicle.

Officer Thomas Clevenger was shot in the hand.

On Monday, police released video that showed the Good Samaritan pulling into the parking lot of the 7-Eleven in a Mercedes.

The man grabbed towels from a nearby store, and rushed to help the injured officer, police said.

He left before officers were able to thank him.

Anyone with any information about the identity of this citizen is asked to contact police at (702) 828-8452.
