Mediterranean diet named best diet for 4th year in a row

NATIONAL (KTNV) — For the fourth year in a row, the Mediterranean diet has been named the best overall diet by the US News and World Report.

The plant-based diet focuses on eliminating or reducing processed foods and centers on fruits, vegetables, beans, lentils, whole grains, nuts and seeds.

Tied for second place, the Dash diet, which stands for dietary approaches to stop hypertension, and the flexitarian diet, which encourages being a flexible vegetarian.

Weight Watchers rounded out the top three.
