LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — As much as you may hate the current forecast, the real question here is your car ready for the storm?

13 Action News spoke to a local mechanic in the valley, and he says you can get ahead of the storm by doing a quick inspection of your car.

“If you don't have a car that's safe and roadworthy, you aren’t going anywhere,” said Vegas Auto Care owner John Skaw.

He also said a simple inspection is easy and doesn't take much time like checking windshield wipers for cracks.

“If it has no stress cracks or anything it’s a good windshield wiper,” Skaw said.

Fluid levels are significant too.

“Check the antifreeze, the radiator - only do it when it's cold otherwise you can get burnt badly by steam – and winter washer fluid,” Skaw said.

These simple routines can be done at home and don’t take much time.
