LATEST UPDATE: The coroner has identified the victim as 26-year-old Johnny Dee Haney II. A vigil was held for him on Tuesday evening.
"He was my everything," said girlfriend Mynia Bogan. "He's a good father, a great friend, a good son, a great big brother, an amazing boyfriend."
Dozens of sobbing loved ones gathered at the spot he was killed. They lit candles and said prayers.
"He was loved, he'll be missed," said one woman.
Haney was shot and killed as he was dropping off his 4-year-old at her mother's apartment complex, said police.
The child's mother, Krystal Guice, 23, along with Deonte Coleman, 25, are both facing murder charges.
"Honestly, it was so unexpected because her and I were on good terms," said Bogan.
Investigators believe Coleman pulled the trigger.
Action News spoke with several loved ones who just arrived into town from California.
No one knows the motive behind the shooting.
Bogan was with Haney on the day he was killed.
"From 2 in the morning until 7, when he got up to exchange his daughter," she said. "He was supposed to come back home, and I never saw him again."
The couple had recently moved to Henderson.
We're told the 26-year-old had just celebrated a birthday two days before.
"I'm just trying to stay strong because he would always tell me to never let anybody see me sweat," Bogan said.
She stated she's also praying for the child's mother as well.
A GoFundMe account has been created to cover funeral expenses.
UPDATE: Two people were arrested in northwest Las Vegas early Tuesday morning in connection to Monday's homicide in Henderson.
Krystal Guice, 23, and Deonte Coleman, 25, were found at a Las Vegas home near West Cheyenne Avenue and North Hualapai Way. They were taken into custody without incident at 2:15 a.m.
Guice and the 26-year-old victim shared custody of a 4-year-old child. The victim, who is from Las Vegas but whose named has not been released, was walking his child to meet with Guice. During the child exchange, gunshots were fired, allegedly by Coleman.
Henderson police said the suspects then sped off with the 4-year-old in the vehicle.
Both Guice and Coleman have been arrested on an open murder charge.
