Source: man killed in arson-set fire had ties to drug trafficking

Three men are behind bars accused in the attack

A source tells 13 Action News one of the victims in an arson-set fire had ties to drug trafficking.  Mario Jimenez and his daughter, Angelica, were killed after being brutalized at their home in November. 
 
Authorities have taken three men into custody in connection with the case. 
 
Hakim Jones, Darren Wilder, and Malik Watson has been arrested and charged in the November 15,2015 house fireon Sherrill Circle, near Lamb Boulevard and Stewart Avenue.
 
When firefighters arrived on scene, they found one person walking down the street bleeding, two people lying on the ground in front of a house next door suffering from critical burns.
 
While fighting the fire, crews entered the house and discovered Mario in the back of the home. Police said they believed he was the victim of a homicide. He died of thermal and smoke inhalation injuries.
 
Three people were taken to University Medical Center, two with critical burns and one with stab wounds and burns.
 
A fourth person was also taken suffering from smoke inhalation. It is believed this fourth person was there attempting to rescue the victims and was overcome by smoke.
 
Three months later, one of the victims,27-year-old Angelica Jimenez died as a result of her injuries. She was never able to recover.
 
All three men are expected to be appear in court on August 16th. 
 
The men have been charged with: 
 
-2 counts of murder with a deadly weapon
-2 counts of attempted murder
-1 count of conspiracy to commit murder
-5 counts 1st degree kidnapping (one of those charges specific for kidnapping of a minor)
-1 count of 1st degree arson
-1 count of robbery with a deadly weapon
-1 count of burglary while in possession of a deadly weapon
 
Watson is being held on no bail.
