A Las Vegas man is recovering from critical burns after his legs caught fire Friday.

Las Vegas Fire and Rescue responded to a fire outside a home on the 300 block of Crestline Drive Friday.

Witnesses reported a man's legs caught fire as he tried to extinguish flames that started in his backyard.

"I ripped down the fence to get into the backyard to get to him and I had to spray him with water to put him out," said George Foley, a neighbor who jumped in to help.

The victim, a man in his late 50's, is still in critical condition.

"You could see the muscles and stuff on his feet. The skin was just dangling off. It was bad," Foley said.

Las Vegas Fire and Rescue wants to remind the public to always evacuate an area if a fire breaks out.
