A woman was found dead inside a North Las Vegas home Monday morning.

North Las Vegas police responded to a home in the 1200 block of Ferguson Avenue, near Civic Center Drive and Evans Avenue around 9:45 a.m. When police arrived they found a 43-year-old woman with apparent stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Clark County coroner identified the woman as 43-year-old Lupe Brown of North Las Vegas.

Police said her boyfriend, 39-year-old Marland Jackson, of North Las Vegas. was arrested in connection to her death. Police said he used a sharpening tool. Jackson then allegedly called police and told them what had happened.

He was booked in Las Vegas City Jail on a murder with a deadly weapon charge.

Police said children were in the home when the woman died.

"We do have a little bit of history at this home, however nothing this extreme," said North Las Vegas Officer Aaron Patty. "So that's something that detectives will definitely consider as well, looking into the history, what we have been out here for, who we've spoken with those times as well."
