It's one of the busiest days of the year for our local fire departments.
Las Vegas Fire & Rescue says it handles about 600 calls on the Fourth of July, which is almost double what they normally receive.

Most of the calls are medical calls but there will also be house fires, grass fires and dumpster fires started by fireworks.
The fire department suggests that you soak your fireworks in water after you are finished so that they don't reignite. Also, you should keep a garden hose handy if you are setting off fireworks at home.
