A Las Vegas K9 officer named Nicky was killed recently in the line of duty, not too long after the dog was injured by a suspect in another incident.

The story about Nicky captured the attention and hearts of many residents in the Las Vegas valley.

Now the dog is being honored with a very special brew named after him by Big Dog's Draft House on North Rancho Drive.

The crew at the brewery got together recently and made a special batch of their War Dog Imperial IPA and added 150 pounds of fresh grapefruit. The beer, which they have named K9 Nicky War Dog, is currently fermenting.

K9 Nicky War Dog will debut at a special tapping party at Big Dog's Draft House on April 28.

For $15, attendees will get a pint of the special brew, a paired appetizer, and a Big Dog’s pint glass. In addition, a special edition K9 Nicky War Dog t-shirt will also be available for purchase.

Proceeds from the special event will be donated to a charity chosen by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

Space is limited. Those wishing to attend are encouraged to buy tickets in advance. Click here for more information.
