Amid the tragedy in Dallas, a national conversation was put on hold.

On Friday,  NAACP leaders stood by local police.

The senseless act of violence in Dallas overshadows one of America's biggest issues.

But for those fighting for justice-it's not just a black versus blue issue.

Even for Sheriff Joe Lombardo, the recent deaths of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile can't be ignored.

"We can't ignore the two incidents involving a shooting in Louisiana and in Minnesota-where many of us have seen the video clips, but we have to remember we are far from knowing the entire story", he says.

Police and community leaders are pleading with people that if you do protest, do it peacefully.

Community and faith-based leaders along with the police departments from Las Vegas and North Las Vegas and representatives from the city of Las Vegas, Sheriff's African-American Advisory Council, NAACP and others held a press conference on Friday to talk about the tragic violence against police officers in Dallas, Texas.
