Two Las Vegas police officers were transported following a crash Wednesday evening.
The crash was reported around 6:20 p.m. in the 3600 block of San Antonio Avenue, which is near Carey Avenue and Pecos Road, involving a unmarked police car and a citizen vehicle. Police said a Chevrolet Tahoe went through a stop sign and T-boned the police vehicle.
The passenger officer of the police vehicle witnessed the driver of the Chevrolet exit the vehicle and grab a 3-year-old from the car before fleeing. The officer was able to catch up with the driver and put him under arrest.
The Chevrolet driver, identified as 35-year-old David Olivas of North Las Vegas, faces a felony charge of hit-and-run and a misdemeanor charge of DUI. He also faces a child endangerment charge.
Neither the driver or child was injured. The 3-year-old was released to her mother.
The two officers were taken to UMC Trauma. The officers are reported in good condition. The driving officer sustained broken ribs.
