Las Vegas police holding DUI checkpoint on St. Patrick's Day

Las Vegas police will be conducting a DUI checkpoint overnight Friday.

This checkpoint is being supported by a Enforcing Under Age Drinking Laws and Joining Forces grant. Las Vegas police traffic and patrol officers, as well as other jurisdictions, will take part in this event to focus on both drug and/or alcohol impaired drivers.

The checkpoint will be conducted on starting 7 p.m. Friday until 3 a.m. Saturday while many celebrate St. Patrick's Day.

The location selected for this checkpoint has had approximately 199 calls for service involving collisions and 51 calls for service involving impaired drivers. The last checkpoint held at this location resulted in 32 arrests for DUI.
