A Las Vegas mom was able to use her extreme coupon skills to buy a new house and car.
"I don't clip everything, I clip what I know I'm going to use," said Yesenia Ward.
Ward has been utilizing coupons to purchase groceries for her family for the past three years. The mom of two has slashed her monthly bill by five hundred dollars. Ward's cabinets are filled with items she bought at a discount price.
"We weren't struggling before," she said, "but I was like I need extra money for when my kids need stuff."
The first step is to clip coupons from newsletters like Smart Source and Red Plum. Ward spends several hours a week clipping coupons. Next, she places the coupons in a binder organized into sections like baby, beauty, food, and household.
"Then I take this whole big old thing with me to the store," she says.
Keep in mind, items like meat and milk are often excluded.
"You always want to use your coupons when stuff is on sale, not when it's on regular price," she said.
