You've got two more weeks before the first day of school for Clark County public schools and back-to-school shopping is expensive. But malls are doing something special to get you in the door.

If you come out to malls like Galleria at Sunset before school starts you might get a special coupon dropped in your bag at checkout. Play your cards right and this could help you maximize savings.

Leading up to the first day of school, stores like Vans and Francesca's are giving out gift cards if you spend enough. We're talking $10, $20, even $50! These are savings you can oftentimes only get in person.

"The more that you spend, the more money you're going to get back," said Jamie Cooper, the marketing director for Galleria.

Even Galleria is giving you money. Starting Monday, July 30 if you spend $150 or more, you get $20 to use at any participating mall store. You can bring your receipts to guest services.

Every parent is pinching pennies.

"It's huge with the inflation, gas prices going up, things like that it can weigh in on a family," said Melissa Perez, a parent.

If you're thinking malls are just fancy clothes, 13 Action News found notebooks, pencil cases, even a specialty USB cord for less than $20 all at Galleria.

Now is the time you'd want to come to the mall. The two days before school are going to be the busiest and of course most stressful.

"Speaking as a parent it's all about empowering your kid that first day, so making sure they feel like a million bucks," said Cooper.

Galleria aggregates deals on their website that you can check before you shop.
