The home often drawing crowds by the dozens

"We try to do as much as we can to our own house when you come here it's like wow it's amazing," visitor Beatrice Sanchez said.

All of it the design of Jeff and Karol Doody.

They were asked what's it like to have people pull up outside their home and appreciate all the work they have done.

"It's really awesome to come home and see a crowd in front of your house," Jeff replied.

"We love when people actually enjoy it that's what makes it worth it is when people get to enjoy it and get to see it," Carol said.

All of this didn't happen overnight.

Since 2014 the family has been trying to get on The Great Christmas Light Fight on ABC.

One of the reasons why Jeff and Karol believe they were not making the cut is because of their front yard. It's about six feet wide. They knew they needed more decorations but with no space, they were left with just one option and that is to go up and up and up.

The couple put decorations all the way up and on top of their two-story home, and it worked.

Finally.

This is their year.

They were asked what the moment was like when they received that notification.

"It was great. We were super excited, but we were also kind of panicked. We're like 'oh gosh' we actually couldn't believe it was real," Karol said.

The couple is sworn to secrecy about the outcome.

But no matter what the show's judges say the look on these kids' faces tells you more than any judge ever could.

Wednesday's episode of The Great Christmas Light Fight airs at 8 p.m. right here on Channel 13.
